Stroll for the Soul

I would like to invite our Sunset community to be part of a virtual walking group. Apparently it takes 21 days to develop a "spiritual practice". Janice McLean has a website entitled "The Prayer Bench", and she is offering a 21 day "Stroll for the Soul". Sunset United Church would send her a cheque for $50 (one time cost that covers us as a congregation), plus a list of any e-mail addresses for people who have let me know they would like to take part. Beginning on April 27th, we would each receive a daily e-mail for those 21 days, that would hopefully inspire us to get outside and simply "pay attention" as part of our own spiritual practice. I would also invite people to actually come and walk with me, (perhaps around the lake?), on a Friday morning for those 3 weeks. I will figure out the specifics for that as time goes on. I have included a sample of what would be sent out, so you can see if this is something that you would like to do. I would need to have your indication of interest by Wednesday, April 20th (send your note of interest to This email address is being protected from spambots. Daily Life

Celtic spirituality celebrates the Sacred in all things. The early Celts saw no separation between sacred and secular. Commonplace things are infused with glory and everyday happenings, a place of encounter.

A Practice for the Day

Be aware of thin places today.
That tree, birdsong, or giggle of a child,
is showing you More
as you walk, bike or run.

Be mindful of the crack in the pavement,
a stone on the path,
an insect on your track.
This is holy ground.

Watch for openings,
the play of sun rays,
the dance of rain drops,
Let all your eyes see remind you
the sacred slips into the ordinary at any moment.

Go outside.
What ordinary thing will you see today that touches your heart with wonder or joy?
